Let me be the first to say that I am SHOCKED at how well the weather turned out for us! I’m going to share the backstory so you can get caught up. I was flying into Huntsville from Dallas for our engagement session. I had been tracking the weather daily two weeks out. Every day it said at least 60% chance of rain. The closer we got the more it changed. When I landed at HSV it was a little cloudy but no rain. Huge win! Within an hour it was storming (yay…). I’ll be honest I was a bit nervous but I had three backup plans for us so I shouldn’t have been. But the weather was nasty, humid, and really gross. I wasn’t going to lose hope because at least in Texas we have a saying “if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes.” Apparently, that’s true for Alabama as well.
Hannah and Jake pulled up to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens and it was still raining but while we were chatting and getting to know each other a little more IT STOPPED!!! It was gorgeous, a bit humid but the rain was gone!
We started walking around the garden, first stopping at a white building off the side of the pond while I taught them some of the poses we’d do, they were quick learners! We went through most of the garden and shot in so many different places! My favorites were in the observatory room and on the patio! It was so romantic and beautiful! I could shoot the entire session there if we wanted to, and I’m happy we ended there because I totally could have stayed there the entire time! We ended the shoot with a champagne pop and I got to meet their sweet pups, Sadie and Jack! Definitely one of my favorite trips I have taken recently!
I loved shooting here, didn’t hurt that I was with Hannah and Jake because they were so much fun! Their personalities definitely show in the photos and I can’t wait to share some of them here! I wish I was in Huntsville permanently because it’s one of my favorite places and has some of my favorite people! I can’t wait to be back in November for their wedding!
